Whimsical Conversation

Over the past 6 months I have moved, changed careers, and for various other reasons made more than a normal amount of new friends. Meeting new people on such a regular basis sort of forces you to be a little bit more aware of first impressions, of what people initially assume upon making your acquaintance. And I have learned something I did not expect! People are more often than not SHOCKED when discovering my eclectic music taste. Apparently, most take me for a top 40 girl! Ouch! What, too dramatic for your taste? The more you read, the more you’ll understand. (:

I am probably the epitome of the anti-top 40 music fan! I enjoy all, for lack of a better word, good music. From The Beatles to Bach, to RHCP to Regina Spektor, from Dierks Bentley to Devotchka. I am a HUGE fan of well-produced, inspired, QUALITY music, regardless of the genre. And while I can jam out to JT and Chris Brown like anyone else, I am definitely not strictly a top 40 gal!

It bothers me when someone exclusively prefers one genre, actually! How can you possibly be a true fan of the MUSIC, if that’s the only kind you like? I personally think it’s impossible!

I’m not really going anywhere with this…I was just rocking out with my daughter to Queen in concert on DVD, and my thoughts started wandering to music, and my love of it.
